Riviera is the result of our founder’s complementary skills, working together to develop and bring to its fullest expression the life and magic of analogue sound. Passion, research, technology and innovation are all driving factors in achieving this goal.

Luca Chiomenti has been involved in the research, design and construction of Hi-Fi systems since the early 1990s. Luca combines education, research and technical expertise in the audio industry with a specialised practice in audio construction (from mass-produced equipment to custom pieces) that finds its fullest expression in Riviera’s creations.

Silvio Delfino has many years of experience in the import-export of Italian audio products, having worked all over the world in the industry. Silvio has also worked as a journalist, magazine editor and consultant, and today he brings his global expertise in the field of audio to the service of Riviera.

Since the company’s founding, Riviera partners Luca Chiomenti and Silvio Delfino have also benefited from the valuable collaboration of Marco Muzio, as an expert in rendering and the design of special mechanical applications, as well as being an audio and design enthusiast.

Together, in a digital age, they create analogue systems in pursuit of perfection.

Luca Chiomenti has cultivated several interests since his high school days: music, mechanics and electronics (as well as drawing and photography). Luca was fortunate enough to grow up in an environment where music, both live and reproduced, was a central feature. His passion for music reproduction led him first to study Electronic Engineering at the Milan Polytechnic, then to work in the audio industry as a designer since the early 1990s.

Since his university days, Luca has been conducting research into the correlations between electronic and electroacoustic devices and biological and neurosensory systems.

His first professional experiences, from 1990 to 1991, included collaborations with various professionals and Italian companies on solid state and valve circuits. These included B. Aloia, for whom he developed an automatic BIAS servo control system for solid-state amplifiers. In 1993, Luca contributed to the relaunch of the Galactron brand by designing the analogue circuit of the Linea 2000 amplifiers, and subsequently starting and managing the production of the first series of equipment.

Between 1990 and 1999, he collaborated with various companies in the audio, electronics and electrical engineering sectors (transformers).

During this time, Luca collaborated with numerous Italian and international magazines, including Fedeltà del Suono, Costruire HiFi (of which he was editor-in-chief), Stereo, and Sound Practices, among others.

In 1999, he established the Kiom brand, with the aim of creating custom reference audio systems, including amplifiers, high-efficiency loudspeakers and handcrafted cables. After 2000, he cut back on his external collaborations. The only exception, between 2004 and 2009, was the design of two lines of audio valve amplifiers and power supply treatment systems for his friend Engineer V. Fratello’s SAP.

From 2016 to 2017, he decided to make the results of his research available to a broader public. Toward that end, with his partner Silvio Delfino, he established a new company, RIVIERA. RIVIERA brings original ideas, invaluable technical expertise and experience, and aesthetic beauty with the ultimate goal of delivering extreme sound refinement to the reproduction of music all with the care and quality of Made in Italy manufacturing.

Silvio Delfino’s passion for music and music reproduction was born thanks to his father, who instilled in him a love of hi-fi at a young age. He grew up around brands such as Micro Seiki, Marantz and AR, and at the age of 12 Silvio bought his first electric bass guitar. He also helped friends set up their stereophonic systems, sharing his passion and knowledge. On his 18th birthday, rather than purchasing his first car he chose to upgrade his speakers, much to the surprise of his friends.

Until the age of 22, high-fidelity remained a hobby, then it became a profession. In the 1980s, Silvio, along with two partners, founded CSL Sound Ltd in San Diego, California to distribute Sonus Faber, Cabre and Chario in the USA. In 1983, the company exhibited at CES in Las Vegas.

Returning to Italy in 1985, Silvio began writing about his insights from his American experience for leading publications such as Stereoplay, Digital Audio Club and Suono, where he held several editorial positions including columnist, coordinator and editor-in-chief from 1987 to 1991. Following the divestiture of the publishing group in the 1990s, he co-founded Fedeltà Del Suono with Gianfranco Maria Binari, serving as its director until 1998. He also collaborated with the magazines Musica and L’Opera and contributed to the rebirth of the Galactron brand and the Aliante by Pininfarina project.

At the end of the 1990s, Silvio dedicated himself completely to consulting, working in Italy with MPI Electronic, Galactron, Aliante, ALOIA, GT Trading and abroad with Audio Techne and various English brands. In 1996, he collaborated on the Klipsch Heritage line and in 2008 he contributed to the development of Klipsch’s Palladium line.

In 2017, he decided to leverage his decades of experience by launching a new Hi-End brand with partner Luca Chiomenti: RIVIERA. RIVIERA is dedicated to producing audio equipment that combines the highest sound quality with refined design. The goal is to spread our Made in Italy excellence to the international High Fidelity market.
